  • We corrected Lesson 40 today and concepts were taught for Lesson 41 which will be due next Thursday
  • Unit exam for Lessons 35 through 40 will be given tomorrow; make-up will be next Friday
  • Students did great on their math quest and subsequent PPT presentation.  Principal Shepard sat in on their presentations and was impressed with the technology skills they have developed or improved upon during the course of this project

  • Comprehension test tomorrow on “The Universe”
  • Mastery Test due Wednesday
  • Retake on state writing test due by Friday… those students that did not score a 24 or better, out of 30, will have to rewrite their essay and resubmit for grading
  • “Tyger” by William Blake was assigned as new poem to memorize and will be due on or before January 15, 2010

For the next three or four days we will be working in the classroom on a math quest.  A math quest is like a treasure hunt on the interent for math related facts and concepts.  It also teaches students how to more effectively navigate the internet.

  • Flander’s Field poem was due today… many students have not passed it off.  If your child is one of them, please have them memorize it and pass it off by Friday.
  • We are working on two big writing assignments; a pursuasive essay on “Three Items I Would Take With Me Into the Future” and “My Place In the Universe”.  The rough draft to “Three Items…” will be due tomorrow.

  • Discussed changes in the Earth’s surface involving volcanoes and more specifically the Cascade Range in the northwestern United States
  • Assigned and reviewed the following vocabulary words for learning of which there will be a quiz on next Monday: drought, equator, erosion, mantle, atmosphere, ocean, axis, ozone, revolution, rotation, terrain, core, and crust

  • Students received their first state graded writing test results today and did rather well… we will work on the categories that received the lowest scores and resubmit for a final grade
  • Book report for “The Giver” is due Friday

  • Students didn’t do too well on their probability quiz… will review the concepts
  • Comprehensive test 6A/B is a take home test and will be due tomorrow at the beginning of class… therefore, there will be no make-up for this test if a student receives a poor grade
